Upper School Soccer

I am passionate about helping young athletes develop their communication, leadership, and sportsmanship skills as well as meet their health and performance goals. I have coached lacrosse players of all ages for 8 years, including 5 years at the Upper School level. I am so excited to coach Soccer this year and join the Roycemore family!

A Letter From Coach St. Amand

Dear Upper School Students and Parents,

This letter comes as an invitation for all high school students (boys and girls) to join the Roycemore soccer team this fall. After a strange year in Athletics during the 2020 season, we are thrilled to transition back into Roycemore Athletics and are excited to build on last fall’s momentum we created for our program.

Opening practices before classes begin will be held:

Friday, August 27 4:45 – 5:45

Monday, August 30 4:45 – 5:45

We are a small school that looks to provide an opportunity for all students to participate regardless of past experience and skill. We value individual commitment that translates to collective results, equating competitive drive with a willingness to maximize the skills we already have while building new ones along the way.

One of the biggest challenges for the fall soccer season is that it starts along with the school year and ends in early October. That short window makes for a fun and exciting season, but also means that we need to hit the ground running in order to build our team. In the past, we have had students wait to express interest until they get settled in school. We’ll always welcome new participants, but with a season that lasts just over a month, we strongly encourage anyone who is at all interested or curious to join the program right away.

The soccer schedule will include 8-10 regular season games with regular weekly practices. The majority of our matches will be played after school at schools or fields close to Evanston. Practices will be held at Mason Park just down the street from school. All of this means that we will have a program that provides a great outlet for students who want to play soccer, but will not be in conflict with schoolwork, daily schedules or other activities.

At this point, the most important action for anyone interested in joining the team (even if it is just initial interest) is to formally inform the Athletic Department. This preliminary list will allow us to follow up directly as the school year approaches with more information about our first practices. Please email Athletic Director, Both Long and he is happy to answer any questions that will help students make a decision about playing.

Please note that the Illinois High School Association requires that all athletes have a physical examination each year. If you have not already submitted a physical examination form signed by your doctor for this year, you must have the attached form completed by your doctor and returned to the main office here at school.

Our season begins with matches starting late August and concludes at the end of October. After school practices will be held on non-game days. We expect every player to attend all practices and games, so please consider that when making a commitment to join our team.

I’m delighted to serve as Upper School Soccer Head Coach this year, and I look forward to seeing many returning and new players soon.

Go Griffins!
