Course Descriptions
Creative Drama
Taught by Ms. Hannah Miller, Second Grade Teacher
Dive into the magical world of drama as young performers explore the Actor's Toolbox—body, voice, and imagination! Through exploration of theater games, scenes, and improvisation, this course will foster imaginative play that boosts confidence, teamwork, and literacy! Each session will also include a craft time for students to explore creativity in puppet making or prop/set design. Students will have the opportunity to showcase what they learned in a performance at the end of the week.
Creative Writing
Taught by Ms. Amanda Reinglass
During the upcoming summer, the Creative Writing program offers an opportunity for your child to unleash their imagination. This innovative class aims to guide your child in exploring their creativity and honing their distinctive writing skills. Each student has the chance to exceed expectations and receive the additional enrichment they seek. The course will cover a diverse range of literary elements and delve into various writing styles, including poetry.
Inventor's Camp
Taught by Ms. Darcy Aksamitowski, Early Childhood and Lower School Division Head
Have you ever wanted to share, create, and build all the amazing ideas in your mind? This class will give you the opportunity to use the design process to put your greatest ideas to the test. Students will learn about some famous inventors and how they generated their ideas, they will work through various invention challenges, and then, ultimately, create (and “build”) their own invention to share with their peers. Students are bound to have a ton of fun and will work to create something they had no idea existed (yet)!
Junior Astronauts
Taught by Ms. Emma Milner-Gorvine, Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher
Explore the stars and concepts that are out of this world in Junior Astronauts camp! This art-based program fuses astronomy and art to help students explore their astronaut potential and their artistic side.
LEGO Robotics
Taught by Ms. Darcy Aksamitowski, Early Childhood and Lower School Division Head
Students will use LEGOs to build models with motors and sensors. They will then work to program their models and explore various “big idea” questions relating to mathematics, science, technology, engineering, and literacy. By working in pairs, students will also focus on improving and developing essential skills like problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Most importantly, they will have a lot of fun.
Little Chefs and Manners
Taught by Ms. Ashley Smith, Kindergarten Teacher
Experience hands-on cooking and baking activities! We will develop social and life skills by working together to create sweet and savory treats! Each day will focus on a different theme as little chefs learn the basic foundations of baking while working as part of a team. The course doubles as a manners and etiquette class, as we practice those skills! If your child has not yet learned to set a popper table, leave it to us to teach them. Let them impress you and your friends as they place a napkin on their lap and acquire a foundation of etiquette beyond please and thank you.
Little Green Thumbs
Taught by Ms. Dawn Farr, Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Welcome to "Little Green Thumbs," an enchanting gardening summer course designed to cultivate a love for nature and gardening in your little ones. This hands-on program invites children to explore the wonders of the natural world, nurturing a sense of responsibility and appreciation for the environment.
Musical Movement
Taught by: Hannah Miller, Second Grade Teacher
In this course, students will get to move and dance along to some of their favorite songs from musicals and popular films. Each class will start with a warm-up activity and a movement-based game. Students will then learn music and choreography to create a fun showcase performance!
Sensory Adventure
Taught by Ms. Dawn Farr, Pre-K Assistant Teacher
Preschool Sensory Adventure is a delightful and engaging preschool sensory summer course designed to spark the curiosity and creativity of your little ones! This hands-on program is carefully crafted to provide a multisensory experience, allowing children to explore and learn through their senses in a safe and fun environment.
Science and Art Exploration
Taught by Ms. Ashley Smith, Kindergarten Teacher
A little bit of science, a little bit of art, and a whole lot of fun! This class will encourage children to explore a wide range of materials that blend both science and art. Activities include exploding art, fizzy colors, sunography, magnet painting, pendulum painting, and more!
STEM Studio
Taught by Ms. Ashley Smith, Kindergarten Teacher
Join us on a STEM Adventure this summer! This course empowers students to put the design process in motion. Through a range of innovative experiments, they kick their critical thinking and problem-solving skills into high gear! Activities include apple jenga, mystery STEM, index card towers, and recycled robots.
Summer Podcasters
Taught by Ms. Emma Milner-Gorvine, Middle and Upper School Spanish Teacher
Do you ever dream of creating your very own podcast? Learn how to share your ideas through this popular medium. During this exciting and actionable program, campers will choose a theme they are passionate about and work together to publish a real podcast in just four days!
The Lemonade Stand
Taught by Ms. Ashley Smith, Kindergarten Teacher
This is an engaging and educational program designed to spark creativity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit in your child! Enjoy outdoor activities, games, and crafts to complement the lemonade stand experience, creating lasting summer memories. Get ready for a week filled with entrepreneurship, creativity, and, of course, delicious lemonade!
