Melinda Orzoff – Lower School Division Head

Melinda Orzoff


Melinda Orzoff, the Lower School Division Head, has been at Roycemore for 33 years. She started as a Middle School teacher of history, math, and organizational skills and became the Lower School Division Head in 2000. Besides, being the Lower School Division Head, Melinda is the Director of Inspiration Factory, our summer enrichment program and teaches Foundations of Math in the Middle School As a teacher she has taught at all levels from Kindergarten through 8th grade, except for 3rd and 4th. She has also been an adjunct professor at Northeastern Illinois University for 15 years in the Educational Leadership Department. Here she taught everything from Human Development and Psychology of Instruction to Human Resource Development and Adult Learning. She also taught Contemporary Issues in the Middle School, and Introduction to Principalship. Melinda also taught Human Resource Development and Motivation and Engagement in the Workforce at DePaul University.

Melinda is married with three daughters, all educators on different levels, university professor, high school teacher, and elementary teacher. She also have five grandchildren who are the loves of her life.

Why do you teach? What is the impact you hope to make on students?

There was never a time that I did not want to teach. I love making a difference in children’s lives and helping them grow to be successful adults.
