Anthony Chambers, Ph.D., ABPP, is the Chief Academic Officer, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, and a Board Certified Couple and Family Psychologist on staff at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Dr. Chambers is also the Director of Northwestern University’s Center for Applied Psychological and Family Studies and is a Clinical Professor of Psychology. Dr. Chambers is also the Past President for the American Psychological Association’s Society for Couple and Family Psychology, and Past President for the American Academy of Couple and Family Psychology. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Chambers received his B.A. in Psychology from Hampton University, his M.A. & Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Virginia, and completed his internship and residency at Harvard Medical School & Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Chambers’ clinical and academic works are focused on couple relationships as he is the author of numerous books, journal articles, book chapters, and national presentations devoted to translating the science behind common couple problems into best practices.
Dr. Chambers’ other main interest involves independent schools where he is an avid reader of all things surrounding private school education. He and his younger brother are lifers of a PK-12 independent day school. His most proud achievement is that he has been happily married for over 20 years and has a beautiful daughter! In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, biking, watching movies and ESPN, watching reruns of Seinfeld and West Wing, and traveling.
