2022 Middle School Awards

5th Grade: Sojo F.-G.

6th Grade: Xavier M.

7th Grade: Lenny S.

8th Grade: Matthew O.

“Get Better Every Day” Award

Coach Fawbush awards one MS student with a separate award each year that can be given to a student from any grade level. Coach Fawbush has lived by his “Get Better Every Day” mantra throughout his years of teaching and the “Get Better Every Day” Award is earned by a student who continuously tries to get better at every sport that we do in PE.  The winner of this award has been found to ask questions, be very coachable, and try new strategies even when one way might work well enough. This year’s “Get Better Every Day” Award award has been earned by:

8th Grade: Gabe M.

Citizenship Award - Star Shield & Shield

We are proud to recognize and honor our Shield & Star Shield recipients. This award is based on our Core Values of Scholarship, Integrity, Community, Respect, and Compassion. All our MS students assessed themselves on the 16 criteria encompassed within our 5 core values in May. The teachers also added their assessment of the students’ attainment of these essential attributes. This year, we shared the SHIELD summary document with each of the students during individual conferences with their HR teachers. Students were then asked to review & reflect on their self-assessment along with their teachers’ assessments to complete the SHIELD Reflection and Goal-Setting document. The summary and your child’s reflection will be emailed home this year with your child’s final report card during the second week of June.

The following students have shown strong adherence to these core values throughout the year and we are so pleased to recognize them today.

P3 Award

We congratulate each and every one of our middle schoolers for their innovative P3 work this year. The P3 Award goes to students who worked diligently toward each of our P3 goals and mindsets this year. These students identified a problem they wanted to solve, stuck with that passion throughout the school year, and used the design thinking process to design a solution to their chosen problem. Each of these students communicated regularly with their mentor. They took feedback from that mentor as well as from teachers, peers, and others. Throughout the year, these students exhibited empathy, commitment, respect, optimism, and collaboration.

This year, the P3 award goes to:

  • Sojo F.-G.
  • Melanie Q.
  • Juliette H.
  • Lyra R.
  • Orly R.

We want to give a special 8th-grade P3 award to someone who has exhibited hard work, empathy, creativity, and passion for all four years of middle school on their P3 projects. In the last few years, this student has completed projects to help animals, reduce inequalities, and understand the effects of social media. She has worked through difficulties and has truly embraced learning from her mentors.

Congratulations, Eva-Rae R.!

Jessi Wunder Award

The Middle School student receiving the Jessi Wunder Award possesses many of the qualities she values, such as a strong work ethic, a spirit of cooperation,  a willingness to share the spotlight, and an enthusiastic, positive attitude.
