Do you like telling stories? Maybe you are uncomfortable speaking in front of large groups of people? We all tell stories. Discover your own unique style of storytelling. Learn useful tools and techniques for telling your true personal stories with skill, humor, and confidence. We will use the curriculum from the Moth (moth.org) as our inspiration to tell stories that engage and delight an audience. Ms. Wilson will teach you how to make your story ready for telling to an audience. Bring a desire to boost your confidence as a public speaker and storyteller. Celebrate: At the end of the six-week session, we will record the final stories for an online storytelling celebration. The class does not require a lot of writing. We will do “social drafting” by outlining and rehearsing our stories out loud for each other. Requirements: A computer with wifi with email and zoom capability is required.
5th - 12th
Date: Saturdays: Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, and Feb. 27.
Times: 4:00 p.m.
Developed in collaboration with Dr. John Rogers at Northwestern University, a pioneer in wearable technology, this course will provide students with the opportunity to ask questions about their own physiology, collect data by wearing state-of-the-art sweat patches, and then analyze this data to learn about the unique ways in which their body works. Sweat contains a wealth of information about a person’s physiology, but has been neglected as a resource for non-invasive health monitoring. Recent advances in wearable sweat sensors have overcome many of the difficulties in sweat data, and these sensors now offer easy access to information about the dynamics of our bodies. They will help ring in a new era of personalized healthcare.
