On January 24, 2022, Roycemore Board of Trustees Chair Kathleen Scheidt announced that the Christopher English will be Roycemore School’s next Head of School.
In a letter to the Roycemore community, Scheidt stated: “Throughout the search process, Chris demonstrated his thoughtful approach to connecting with people, his focus on inclusion and belonging, and his dedication to joining and advancing Roycemore’s community and culture. Chris also showed his aptitude and commitment to foster and strengthen Roycemore’s programs to prepare students to be responsible citizens, innovative thinkers, and compassionate leaders. Across all constituent groups, the survey feedback was clear and consistent. The overwhelming sentiment was that the community viewed Chris as an experienced educator, a dynamic thinker who shares Roycemore’s values, and an effective leader who will drive the next phase of Roycemore’s future.”
Particular gratitude goes to the Head of School Search Committee, which was led by Anthony Chambers and included Roycemore administrators, teachers, alumni, and trustees. Both the Search Committee and Roycemore as a whole benefited from the assistance of search consultants Mike Murphy and John Watson from Educational Directions, and the scheduling and coordination efforts of many Roycemore team members.
Chris English said: “Now, knowing that I have the honor of being named the next Head of School, I cannot wait to fully embrace my role in this incredible community.”

In a letter to the Roycemore community, Finley Odell, who has served as Roycemore’s Head of School since 2017, stated, “I am deeply proud of what we have accomplished together and am excited to work with the community to continue to advance our program and campus in the year ahead. Scheidt’s letter to the Roycemore community stated: “When I reflect on everything that the Roycemore community has achieved in recent years with Adrianne’s guidance – even, and particularly, during the challenging 2020 and 2021 pandemic months – I marvel at what we have done together and am incredibly grateful for the contributions of so many.”

There will be additional opportunities for community involvement via focus groups when the consultants visit campus in August and when the finalists visit Roycemore. More information will be sent as we plan for the visits.
Our goal is to conduct this search in a manner that is as inclusive and transparent as possible. If you have any concerns or questions about the process, please contact the Search Committee chair, Anthony Chambers, at headsearch@roycemoreschool.org.
