Why Give to Roycemore?

Once one enters the doors of Roycemore School, it hits you. There is something special happening here. The receptionist knows every child by name, and whether or not they have homework to do. The Head of School cheerfully escorts a visitor to the nearest restroom, just because they happens to be walking by. A piano can be heard from the music room, and a Senior is reading to a Kindergartner during their activity period. Just around the corner, a Middle Schooler is creating their shot list for their next film project and a third grader is learning how to do a backflip in tumbling.

It is a place where who you are is so much more important than your financial situation, academic prowess, or cultural background. Roycemore lifts the individual while creating community.

This is just a slice of what we call the “Roycemore Way” around here; an authentic, individualized experience that produces world explorers and great thinkers. Roycemore School has created a community that really feels more like a second home – like family.

Your financial investment in Roycemore will provide opportunity for children to learn at their speed and in the areas that they are passionate about. It will support our small class sizes and individualized attention. Your gift will support a foundation of caring, compassion, and community with a student who will know accountability and responsibility together with classic literature, art and science – not to mention the tumbling! The return on your investment is the knowledge that you have participated in the foundation of a lifetime of scholarship, integrity, community, respect and compassion.

Roycemore School is a special and magical place. It is the place where our students will always be known, cherished, and valued for exactly who they are, the ways they learn, and the things that inspire them.
It is no small feat that Roycemore is able to provide upwards of 40% of our students with financial aid. This makes it possible to empower students for whom an independent education is otherwise out of reach.
This incredible commitment is due to the support of our entire community, from current parents and grandparents, to alumni and their parents – all who want to see Roycemore continue to thrive.
If you have already given, thank you.

Helpful Donation Information

Donations of Appreciated Stock

  • Donations of appreciated stock continue to benefit those who give their most appreciated holdings. Upon the donation, the donor will no longer need to claim the appreciated value as income. This can be a great benefit and you will save on capital gains taxes, whether you itemize or not. For example, a gift of stock that was purchased for $1,000 and is now worth $10,000 will save all of the capital gains tax on $9,000.

If you are 70.5 or older

  • If you are 70.5 or older and benefit from IRA distributions, contributing those payments to Roycemore will erase your tax obligation on that income. To learn more, check out this article published by Investopedia.

Tax Cut Law

  • The Tax Cut law of 2017 did change some things for charitable deductions – you can now claim charitable deductions on up to 60% of your Adjusted Gross Income. For more information, go here.

How to Participate

Annual Campaign

Where Participation Counts

Our Annual Campaign is the critical philanthropic component of Roycemore’s yearly budget. These funds impact our daily programming and every single student and faculty member. Roycemore depends on philanthropic support, rather than any form of public funds, to recruit and retain our talented faculty, the largest portion of our annual budget. Your participation is important.

Giving back to the school that gave your child a nurturing space to help them grow into who they are today is an incredible way to honor the teachers who believed in your child and who inspired their success. As a parent of a Roycemore alum, you know better than many how unique Roycemore truly is. Your gift can help ensure that we continue to fulfill our history of life-saving, life-affirming, and life-changing work for years to come, and to ensure that tomorrow’s students receive the same level of education that your own children enjoyed.

GriffINNOVATION Campaign

What Dreams Are Made Of

6,000 square feet of unfinished potential lies in wait at Roycemore School. Many of us know the sun-filled space above the existing library and administrative wing as “Room 200.” It currently serves as a “warehouse” for extra furniture, a “storage unit” for various odds and ends, and a “workspace” for painting sets and project work. It beckons to serve a larger purpose – to house the imaginings of our students. Part old school shop, part magic, and part envisioning the future, it’s an innovation space, a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) lab, a place where students paint on canvas in one corner and design virtual realms in another. At its core, the Innovation Center is a place for making, collaborating, learning, and sharing. It provides hands-on STEAM experiences that are critical for students to gain important problem-solving, design, and prototyping skills. We welcome you to be a part of making the transformation of Room 200 to the Innovation Center a reality.

Thanks to you, our students are gaining the knowledge, skills, and values to create a more humane, just, and sustainable world.
