Position Overview

Roycemore School seeks a Director of Finance & Operations to support the ongoing growth and development of the school. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the school’s finances in collaboration with the Head of School, the Board of Trustees, and the Finance Committee. The school seeks an experienced manager and effective communicator who can onboard and document new processes as needed. The position reports directly to the Head of School.


Essential Functions

  • Supervise the work of the business office and facility personnel.
  • Apply standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures and keep accurate continuous records of cash and financial position of the school.
  • Manage the financial operation of the school.
  • Prepare monthly operating statements for the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.
  • Provide monthly reports of expenditures for use of each individual budget center within the school.
  • Plan and schedule for the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Secure an annual audit of the school’s financial records and financial positions.
  • Oversee all school purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, payroll and benefits programs.
  • Provide staff support, in conjunction with the Head of School, to the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees.
  • Provide Human Resource support to employees.
  • Assist the Head of School in facilities management and take the lead with facility vendor relationships.
  • Guide and oversee food service vendor.
  • Oversee maintenance staff person.
  • Assist the Head of School with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel, including the evaluation of support staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.


Qualifications

The School is most interested in candidates who demonstrate the following qualities and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Three or more years of financial and business leadership.
  • Non-profit or independent school experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in measuring and improving organization-wide productivity.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of analysis for strategic decision-making, such as key cost drivers, competitive analysis, market analysis, organizational strengths and weaknesses, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to take complex subjects, distill them, and then communicate them to a varied audience.
