Tuition and Affordability

At Roycemore School we value each member of our community and the unique contribution each student makes to our collective excellence. We are among the most diverse independent schools in our region, and we believe racial, cultural and economic diversity enriches our school. Because Roycemore is committed to remaining accessible and affordable to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds, we use a sliding scale tuition model that applies a tuition range based on each family’s particular circumstances.

Tuition & Fees 2019-2020

Our fees include organic, locally sourced daily hot lunch (and snacks for Early Childhood students) prepared by HandCut Foods, Family Association dues, most activities, and classroom materials. Early payment discounts are available; semi-annual and monthly payment plans are available for a small service charge. Requirements

To help us objectively calculate what a family is able to contribute to educational expenses, families are asked to complete an online application through FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment.

  • Submit most recent tax forms to FACTS
  • Apply to Roycemore during the priority deadline.
  • Apply to merit-based scholarships if no financial aid assistance is given.

Our Commitment

Our extraordinary financial commitment to the tuition assistance program seeks to sustain access to Roycemore for diverse and qualified students.

  • 30% of our operating budget–over $1.8 million for the 2018-19 school year–is dedicated to tuition assistance.
  • 50% of our currently enrolled students receive some tuition reduction.
  • We use a sliding scale tuition model to personalize a tuition process that takes into account each family’s unique details.

Decisions about admission and sliding scale tuition are two separate processes, so new students must both apply for admission as well as sliding scale consideration. Returning families requesting consideration for sliding scale tuition are required to reapply annually as part of the re-enrollment process in  January of each year. All financial information provided is held in strict confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for sliding scale tuition?

To apply, you will need to submit an online application through the FACTS Grant & Aid assessment system. You will need a copy of your most recent federal 1040 tax form and W2 wage statements.

Does Roycemore offer any merit scholarships?

Roycemore offers one or more Eisner Scholarships for Upper Schoolers each year. The Robert Eisner Distinguished Scholar Program rewards academic excellence and recognizes truly outstanding 9th and 10th graders with a full tuition, renewable scholarship. This year’s deadline is Monday, November 18, 2019.

If we qualify for sliding scale, do we automatically receive it every year?

All families who currently pay Sliding Scale Tuition must reapply each year. We will attempt to keep a family’s tuition at a similar level each year as long as no major changes have occurred in a family’s financial situation during the previous year.

If parents are divorced, who should apply for sliding scale?

We require that both the custodial and the non-custodial parent (or both co-custodial parents) complete and submit an application with FACTS.
