Leave a legacy and provide for the
future of Roycemore School

As Roycemore approaches its 100 year anniversary in 2015 and launches a capital campaign to continue the School for another 100 years, we need the support of all our alumnae and alumni. Much of what you enjoyed, and what impacted your life at Roycemore, was the result of generous gifts from those alumni and benefactors who came before you.

In continuation of that heartfelt tradition, we invite you to leave a lasting legacy by naming Roycemore as a beneficiary in your will. We realize that not everyone can make a large gift today to the School that meant so much to them, but by making a planned gift you will help provide for the future of Roycemore.

Your gift may be either designated as unrestricted or earmarked for the Roycemore School Endowment, which will continue to provide support for the School in perpetuity. Of course, you may designate a specific area, such as the capital projects fund or scholarships.

To thank you for your thoughtful generosity, you will be recognized as a member of the Rebecca Ashley Thatcher Society and listed in the annual Honor Roll of Donors.

Helping Roycemore can also provide benefits for you

As you reach retirement age, you may wish to find ways to help Roycemore that also provide tax benefits and maintain your investment income. Such gifts may be designated for endowment, capital or current school needs.

  • Gift annuities provide a guaranteed income at rates substantially higher than savings or money market accounts.

  • A charitable remainder trust is ideal for those who have appreciated securities that are no longer producing income. These trusts grow with the rising stock market, but still provide a guaranteed minimum income.

All bequests and life income plans qualify alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends for membership in the Rebecca Ashley Thatcher Society.

Please contact the Roycemore School Development Office regarding questions or additional information.

Why I give

"I loved my four years at Roycemore; I received an excellent education and made wonderful lifelong friends. I enjoyed the smallness of the classes and the personal attention which gave me the confidence to participate in different activities that I might not ordinarily have tried. Roycemore’s standards were high and it certainly prepared me for the college of my choice. I believe in private school education, and I believe in Roycemore."

- Shirley Mellor Petry, Class of 1941

Roycemore School Endowment Fund

In great gratitude to the generosity of Mrs. Robert Eisner, the Roycemore School Endowment Fund, was established to provide support for faculty and program-related projects. Our Endowment Fund is managed by the well-respected Evanston Community Foundation which has continued to preserve capital, holding the value of its portfolios better than most endowments. www.evanstonforever.org. Your gifts to the Roycemore Endowment will not only support the future of the school, but also leave a secure and lasting legacy.

Rebecca Ashley Thatcher

The Rebecca Ashley Thatcher Society was created to recognize and honor our alumni and friends who commit future support to Roycemore.

Miss Ashley, as she was known by the girls at Roycemore, served the school from 1916 until her retirement in 1941. As the first head of the Upper School, and later Principal of Roycemore, she was instrumental in developing the principles and policies that continue to serve Roycemore students.
