Growth - Confidence - Community

Roycemore Middle School students
can't wait to get to school!

Roycemore provides educational experiences that address the unique intellectual, social and physical needs of early adolescents. Roycemore's open and non-competitive approach creates a friendly, supportive community. A variety of classroom and extracurriclar activities build on an early adolescent's emerging sense of independence and personal responsibility.

Middle School (Grades 5-8)

Middle School offers a challenging academic program in a nurturing, supportive setting. The core curriculum teaches students how to study, explore, research, and write well. Teachers engage students and address different learning styles in small classes.

Creating a positive learning environment helps students approach their studies with the enthusiasm necessary to succeed. Through Shield, a character-building program, students receive recognition for displaying qualities like responsibility, honesty, respect for property, cooperation with others and positive contributions to class and school spirit. With daily P.E. and an engaging Middle School Olympics program, ample opportunities are provided for releasing energy!

Roycemore’s commitment to Fine Arts includes a rotation so that each Middle Schooler can experience different forms of art, music and speech/drama. A wide-ranging Creative Arts program lets students choose from unique teacher-created electives like “The Physics of Roller Coasters” or “Jewelry Making.” While not core classes, electives like these are a valuable part of the program that enable students to explore and broaden their experiences.

Middle Schoolers have the opportunity to choose their own faculty advisors: someone with whom they can form a bond, who helps them set academic goals and develop as an individual.

Interscholastic basketball, soccer and volleyball begin in Grade 5. Sports and other activities are open to everyone and teachers encourage all students to become involved.

"My two sons used to attend public elementary school where the classes were often made up of more than 25 students. By the time my sons reached middle school they had become completely anonymous. Our experience at Roycemore has been exactly the opposite. Roycemore is such a warm and nurturing environment where, with its small class sizes, each student is genuinely treated as an individual, with unique strengths and differences."
